Nothing pleases Drea Knufken more than perfecting a piece of writing. She started her career learning the fine art of phrase editing as an AdWords editorial specialist for Google, Inc. After transferring departments to Blogger.com, where she read hundreds of blogs created by angst-ridden preteens, she learned by bad example what good Web writing looks like.

Drea then set off to manifest the collective fantasy of habitual travel backpackers by becoming a travel writer. Her Web experience brought her to a startup called HomeandAbroad.com, where she wrote hundreds of descriptions and activities for destinations throughout the Western hemisphere. This led to an assignment as the Web Editor of DineLA.com and DiscoverLosAngeles.com. Here, she wrote features, search phrases, introductory paragraphs, newsletters, and SEO content about LA dining, culture, and tourism.

Drea soon realized that travel was only one of the many topics she enjoys writing about. Food, that glorious medium where nature meets culture, became another topic of interest. So did culture itself, as well as the outdoors, alternative health, and international human rights issues. Today, she happily writes about all these facets of the world, while continually exploring new avenues to document.

When not writing or contemplating new story ideas, Drea spends her time exploring Colorado’s marvelous outdoors by foot, bike, car, or single-engine aircraft. She also loves to experiment with new kinds of foods and recipes. She recently returned from a trip to India and Southeast Asia, where she was elated to discover serene rivers, ancient temples, and an abundance of farm life in the middle of the city.
